Virtus

The VIRTUS program called Protecting God’s Children is aimed at teaching adults about the nature and scope of child sexual abuse in our society. The VIRTUS programs empower organizations and people to better control risk and improve the lives of all those who interact with the Church. This is the program endorsed by the Diocese of Madison. The training includes:

1. Knowing the warning signs
2. Controlling access to children
3. Monitoring all parish programs
4. Being aware of the scope of sexual abuse in our society
5. How to communicate your concerns

Participation in this program is required and mandated for all adults who will be working with children of the parish. This includes all adult volunteers and adult members of any group which includes children under the age of 18.

As part of our parish’s efforts to protect all children Parent sessions will also be offered. All parents are encouraged to attend this short one time opportunity to better protect your child from the dangers of sexual abuse. Sessions will be offered during the coming months within our area.
